Living in Mountain Elegance

This has been a hell of a week!  I have been preparing for a huge "make or break" meeting with clients that are building a home outside of my comfort zone.  Don't get me wrong, I'm up for the challenge, just a little less sure footed is all.  They described their vision for the new home as mountain elegance but most of the concept photos they shared were pretty rustic and traditional.

Anyway, we came up with a nice palette and overall design concept for the home, and they lovd it!  Below are a couple of images that helped guide me in the right direction.

Thanksgiving Table Design

Yikes Thanksgiving is only a couple weeks away, and I'm still in summer mode!  Halloween is so fun but such a wake up call.  Forget the feast, have you given any thought to how you will be decorating your thanksgiving table this year?  I'm personally thinking a sage runner with a little eggplant and gold accent.  Something similar to the photos below...

Yes I think that will be just fabulous.  But hey, that's just me.  Let's look at some other options for your holiday table.....

Love how they put it on a platform!  Simple, yet adds that something special.

Love the pine cones!  Could be the perfect gold accent I was looking for!

Oh this is beautiful! Spray paint twigs gold....love.

Front Entry Doors

Friends I must apologize for my cyber silence!  I enjoyed a nice long vacation in New York, and while I had every intention of keeping up on my blog, that city can be a little distracting!  Anyway, since I'm a little rusty, let's ease back into things with the first design element you encounter in a home. I'm talking about the front entry door, and all of its possibilities.  Let's say hello to the welcoming doors below, shall we?

Fabulous Fireplaces

Summer is flying by, and I've been slacking on the posts!  I am tasked with the job of designing some fireplaces for a new client.  I've classified this couple as modern mountain, and should have no problem finding inspiration.

For the great room, we were thinking of bringing in the exterior stone.  Because of the heavy feeling in the stone, I would like to balance it out with some chunky wood, similar to the fireplaces below...

For the bedroom, I'm thinking reclaimed barn wood.

That last one takes the cake for me!  Finally, in their lower level, I would like to do something a little more clean and sleek.  This will be the entertaining area and doesn't need to feel quite as cozy as the others.   I'm thinking since we've used stone and wood, this one should be metal.
